When you are having fun! We will soon be wrapping up the tailgate market season in October and I am going to miss all the great folks that we have met this summer at the Black Mountain Market, the Mills River Market and the Weaverville Market. Thanks to all of those wonderful "Lovin me some Goat Milk Fudge people"! Just remember you can still get your Goat Milk Fudge fix at any of the retail stores carrying our fudge.
We will also be at the SouthEast Animal Fiber Festival on the weekend of October 22, 2009. This event is at the WNC AG Center and is the largest spinning, knitting, crochet, felting and weaving event around. I, of course will be adding to my collection of raw fleeces, knowing full well I can't live long enough to spin all the fleeces that I already have! Come by, take a class, get some new knitting needles and of course pick up some Mountain Made Goat Milk Fudge! You can visit the event's website at www.saffsite.org
This time of year finds us planning next years "marryin of the goats". Breeding season is almost as busy as kidding season, with careful documention of our planned marriages. Ken will be traveling this weekend to Cam Faircloths for a AI class and to pick up some Oberhasli semen. It isn't nearly as exciting as real "marriages", at least not for the girls, but I am pretty darn excited about taking our Oberhasli breeding program to the next level.
We will have several Nigerian and Second Generation Mini Nubians kidding in December and I am looking forward to these babies, as the Dad's are new junior herdsires "Marcus" (from Rusty Repp's Little Tot's Estate) and "Bubba" (Listening Eagle on the Nubian side and Rinestone on the Nigerian side). We will have several babies for sale, as well as a couple of first fresherns in both breeds.
Congrads to the Kelli's for the new babies! They are the proud owners of a Cinder's son and a couple of Nigerian girls.
Also Congrads to Alma Seltzer for her new junior herdsire HeatherLane Jazzer. I know that he is going to a wonderful home and I am excited about crossing our bloodlines with Alma's FirePink Hollar/Oakmoon bloodlines.
